Driver CPC Wales Ltd. has been awarded 'Centre Accreditaton'
as a provider of Driver CPC periodic training by 'JAUPT'*, the joint approvals
unit for periodic training. As such, we have become the first training
organisation in Ceredigion to win accreditation for a Driver CPC programme
that will be delivered entirely by our own in-house team of driver training
specialists.

Who does CPC affect?
If you already hold a Bus, Coach or Lorry driving licence you will have
'aquired rights' valid for 5 years from the initiative's start date (10 Sept
08) and will not need to hold a driver CPC during that period however, you
will need to start working towards it if you wish to continue driving beyond
Sept 2013.
What is Periodic Training?
Periodic training is regular training that will continue throughout your
professional driving career to help you as a driver and to encourage safe
driving for life.
EVERY professional driver will need to complete 35 hours of 'periodic training'
There is a range of DSA approved courses available with training tailored
to suit your individual needs to help you become an even better driver. The
training is grouped under 3 headings..
- Safe and fuel efficient driving (this may include vehicle loading, fuel
consumtion and pollution)
- Legal requirements (rules for tachograph, drivers hours)
- Health & Safety, service & logistics (including first aid, passenger
safety, customer services)
*
The 'JAUPT' organisation has been created and is managed by two skills
sector councils (SSC) in a partnership agreement sectioned by the Driving
Standards Agency. The two SSC's are 'Skills For Logistics' which serves
the freight transport industry and 'Goskills' which covers passenger transport. |
